A MOTHER'S DAY GIFT OF NATURE

Today we are celebrating Mother's Day, in a very special way, here on the Moon. Outside our front door, delicately nestled in a heart shaped flowered wreath, lives an expectant new Mother.

At first glance, we thought that this little new Mother, appeared to be an average sparrow, until the male, flew in to inspect the nest. To our surprise, he had the prettiest red crested cap and a rosy red chest. "This a not an average sparrow", we said dumbfoundedly. So, out came the "Field Guide to Western Birds", book.

We thumbed through several pages and found a picture that resembles the proud expectant Father and Mother, and they seem to belong to the Finch family. We believe they are the House Finch. And, glory be, there they are, on OUR house! All we have to do, to watch this loving family, is crack our front door alittle, and there they are.

What also makes this Mother's Day "gift of nature", so very special, is that the heart shaped flowered wreath, that adorns our home, also adorned my mother's casket. Thanks, Mom, I love you very much....Happy Mother's Day.
